There’s a moment after the “yes”…
When everything feels still.
The ring catches the light.
Your heart is full.
And you realize—your life just shifted in the most beautiful way.
If you’re here, first…
Congratulations. Truly.
This season you’re stepping into?
It’s one you’ll remember forever.
And while it’s easy to rush into planning, I want to gently guide you through what matters most—so you can stay present, grounded, and connected through it all.
Before you do anything… just be here.
This moment matters.
No timeline. No pressure.
Call the ones who matter most.
Let them hear it in your voice. Even better if you can share in the excitement while being together.
An engagement dinner. A quiet night. A weekend away. Let your loved ones throw you an engagement party. There’s no wrong way to celebrate love.
Before Pinterest boards and budgets…
Ask each other:
What do we want this to feel like?
Practical, but important. Protect what symbolizes your commitment.
There’s no “right” timeline. In the early stages of planning, decide what season you want to have your wedding and the time of day you envision the ceremony to be. If you’re flexible with a wedding date you can decide by what dates are available with your venue choice, and they can help you with what time most couples have their ceremony. Fall is the busiest time for weddings in Minnesota and the venue and vendors will book out quickly.
Your wedding coordinator/planner or photographer can help you with your timeline.
There’s no “right” timeline. Choose what feels aligned—not rushed.
Guest count. Budget. Priorities. Food.
Have honest, loving conversations early. This is your day to celebrate your love.
Clarity now = less stress later.
From rustic barns to lakeside views…Minnesota weddings are something special. Try to visit the venue during the season that you’re getting married. Some venues offer special rates for weddings that are other days than Saturdays.

Your photos are what remain long after the day is over. The dress is worn once.
The flowers fade.
But your photos?
They become your legacy.
At Empowered Lotus Photography, we don’t just document your day—we preserve your story with intention, emotion, and care.
Once you have your date and venue booked it’s time to find your photographer and book the personality and style of work that brings you joy and excitement. You will be spending all day together so you want to make sure you like being around them.
This is where your story begins visually.
Engagement photos aren’t just for announcements—
they’re for remembering how this felt.
At Empowered Lotus Photography, we create space for you to be yourselves—soft, real, connected.
No pressure. No posing stress. Just your love, as it is.
It’s almost like you’re on a date and I’m just following along catching the fun moments that you’re having together laughing.
I love to at least include a mini engagement session for my couples so this gives you time to feel more comfortable in front of the camera and with me before your wedding day.
You don’t need to rush into “what’s next.”
This season is part of your story too.
You’ll spend your entire wedding day with your vendors.
Choose people who:
Make you feel comfortable
Understand your vision
Care about your experience

As a photographer, I’ve witnessed hundreds of weddings.
And I can tell you this…
The couples who enjoy their day the most? They stayed connected to why they were there. Not perfection. Not pressure. But love.
If you’re looking for a photographer who will:
Capture your real connection
Create a calm, supportive experience
Tell your story with intention
I would be honored to connect with you. Book a call with me or we can even meet up for coffee.
